Work in a Warming World (W3) in collaboration with Simon Fraser University’s Centre for Labour Research held the Work and Climate Change workshop on September 21st, 2012 at the Simon Fraser Harbour Centre Campus.
The workshop highlighted the overall objectives and some of the initial research findings of the 5 year SSHRC funded Work in a Warming World project. Participants analyzed the impact of climate change on work and evaluated Canada’s efforts to mitigate – and adapt to – climate change through initiatives designed to ‘green’ the workplace in a variety of sectors of the economy, including: manufacturing, agriculture, construction, tourism and public services. The workshop also addressed some of the key labour and public policy issues associated with facilitating a ‘just transition’ to a low carbon economy.
